3D CHARACTER ARTIST STUDIO PROFILE
Established in 2006, Ubisoft Sofia has quickly become one of the group’s most versatile studios. In its first 6 years, the studio has already developed a rich portfolio, ranging from casual games to flight simulations, and covering a wide range of platforms and technologies: Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon® Shadow Wars 3DS, Prince of Persia® Trilogy HD PS3, Imagine® Fashion Designer 3DS, Prince of Persia® Classics PSN, Chessmaster® The Art of Learning DS & PSP and many more. The studio’s latest achievements include the successful development of Assassin’s Creed III Liberation for PS VITA, Assassin’s Creed 4: Black Flag (alongside Ubisoft Montreal and 5 other studios), Assassin’s Creed Liberation HD and most recently Assassin’s Creed Rogue.
ROLE
The 3D Character Artist is responsible for autonomously modeling and texturing of characters and other graphical assets required to build the character presence in a project (weapon models, armor, accessories, etc.) in accordance with the artistic direction and production deadlines. He/she works with Concept / Lighting/Texture artists, Game and Level designers to ensure that there are no technical problems met, or hindering of the work of other team members.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES- Produces autonomously the modeling and texturing of 3D characters covering the pipeline from high poly sculpt to in-engine integration, in accordance with the artistic direction and production deadlines;
- Delivers - in a single iteration - work in accordance with the project's artistic direction;
- Applies optimization to her/his work;
- Efficiently applies graphic principles in her/his work;
- Uses and looks for artistic references - in video games or in other artistic domains - in order to improve the visual aspect of the game;
- Suggests images in line with the project's artistic direction;
- Is flexible and able to adapt to different artistic styles.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Very good sense of human and animal anatomy and proportions;
- Highly proficient in 3DS Max, ZBrush (or equivalent software) and Photoshop;
- Solid knowledge in hi-poly modeling and digital sculpting;
- Strong knowledge of low poly modeling techniques;
- Very good texturing skills, mapping and normal map extraction techniques;
- Ability to use efficiently the texture space and to take into consideration the pixel ratio;
- Ability to understand technical constraints and to integrate them when modeling;
- Good sense of form, shape, silhouette in regards to objects;
- Passion for games and strong game culture;
- Ability and desire to work in creative and collaborative teams;
- Ability to manage their own time and work within deadlines;
- Good communication and English skills.
NICE TO HAVE- Previous experience in game development will be very appreciated;
- Experience in animation and rigging are considered as advantage;
- Drawing and sculpting skills with traditional media are additional plus.
