I'm just starting this thread while I think of ideas.

thinking of doing some sort of humanoid animal character warrior.

I went ahead to make some fur on the tail so that I would know I can create the right effect for the fur on the final model.
here's a test of the fur in marmoset.

FINAL RENDERS -
