I feel like there's a faster way to do the feathers but i'm not sure how. I'm also not sure how well i'll be able to pull the normals/opacity map off the high poly but if it fucks up i can always do something else.
I was thinking the back story is that it was crippled when it was young or something like that.
Or maybe it's some giant creature that's been made half-redundant by it's slow passage through evolution.
So i've done detailing on the head and feet/claws, added an extra toe (after googling what crow feet actually look like) and used a add clay brush with a soft alpha so push some feathers together so they look a bit glossier and more abundant than they actually are.
I'm going to try and bake out the feathers in sections on planes that i can layer down the body, and also bake some miscellaneous ones with just a few feathers that i can use to break up the low polys silhouette a bit.
Also still need do re-do the opacity mask for the larger wing feathers, it's totally placeholder right now.

Not really sure.
it's already looking pretty cool, gonna keep checking you work often to watch more of the progress and to get some tips ofc =P
