Dope. Love what we have seen thus far for Astroneer, and super stoked to see what comes next. Thank you for all the work you put into creating this little corner of the internet, as we know it today, for us game artists Polycount is a pretty special place for many of us. See you on the boards Adam. Good luck out there in the wild.
Thanks for helping to create one of the most valuable assets to game artists, beginners and veterans alike. I wish you all the success in the world concerning your game and may the sun shine ever on your path!
I want to get it, been looking at it the last week, but there also seem to be some issues with lag and some features that could be improved, so I might be waiting a patch or two more before getting it.
Was going to grab it for some youtube action but i missed the "1st" boat so, how do people get developer copies early? I want in on that action!
Love it will check out some youtubes and decide if I should get it for some relax time, loved the "trailer video", really cool style all around and interesting hope it does well for you, looks like fun to model and stuff.
Ended up buying it after all, have some fun with it, though I did have an annoying issue that I had before with some other games, and thought I'll share the temporary solution for it. The issue is when you have dual monitors, the mouse keeps going outside your game and when you click, it leaves the game. I found a program that can keep it within the same window all the time:
Then go down to tray and open the options for the program.
Go down to the category Cursor > General
On the option "Lock cursor onto screen", click the change button
Select a hotkey to use to lock your mouse within your screen (I used CTRL+F12)
Then close it and run the game. When in game, just press the hotkey and the cursor will stay within the screen. If you want to go to another screen, just the hotkey again and its released. Seem to work fine for me.
Played it a bit over the weekend. Really enjoying it so far! Though, I do agree with McGreed's comments. The borderless fullscreen is annoying for sure.
Cant wait to dive in more. Check out the automation type stuff that Adam mentioned in one of his lets plays.
Put a bunch of time into it. So far I love it. Fantastic style (both the environments and the characters/technology), and I think one of the best game UI's I've ever used. There's some functionality I'd still look for (for example, being able to 'swap' things out when you are already holding something, instead of having to remove something, then pick another thing up to socket it in), and the top corner slots don't seem to allow functional things even though they give the impression that it's what those spots are for. Not sure if this is intentional.
Other than that, some framerate issues after playing for 2-3 hours straight, i was down to 5-8 fps on a 980 and it got pretty much unplayable, despite relaunching the game. Not sure what's up with that as my base wasn't even particularly big.
Otherwise, I love it, cant wait to see it grow. Tremendous potential here. I hope eventually we get to build full on space housing or something, haha. I'm SO glad it's multiplayer.
Bought it today, tremendous fun! The slide mechanic made me immediately think of sculpting some sort of bobsleigh track for multiplayer races, but I've yet to fully understand how the flattening tool works.
congrats on releasing the early access on steam, this is what I want from sandbox game. pure zen and beauty, I dont even need to search internet to understand the game ( except for T button ) and build shuttle to other planet, very2 well done game design its all about visual.
I just have bit collision issue with the sculpting tool sometimes,
Yup, I'm having a great time with it too! I think it's the most polished pre-alpha game I've played!
There's obviously still a lot to come, but it's a lot of fun in it's current state. I love how the tether system makes it easier to not get lost when exploring dark caverns.
Very well done! I also think y'all did a great job communicating the mechanics in a simple way. I love the visual style too!
I think my only gripe was my first trip to another planet and not being able to find resin anywhere. (And thinking my game was broken trying to get back to my home planet, the collection of blips that matched my first base were floating in the void directly above my current planet) Up to that point, the game has a survival element while handing you everything you need; nothing really tipped me off to say that I should prep for the trip.
Bought it last night... didn't think it would be my type of game (sandbox), but I'm a sucker for survival/exploration. I like that the game doesn't spoon feed you how to play; I had a few eureka moments when I figured out how things actually work. As long as the game can sustain a balance of difficulty/exploration I think i'll be hooked, look forward to seeing where it goes.
