I decided to start a new personal project: the C5 Galaxy with a sci-fi twist. (interior only)
I never really made a properly planned environment on my own so it is about time to jump into UE4 and create a nice portfolio piece.
The interior is very cloth heavy so I will have to use a lot of Marvelous Designer which provides a nice challenge.
Here the picture that started it all together with Paul Pepera´s awesome latest spaceships:

I want to do something special with the interior, like having a submarine dropping system or something interesting/scifi to break up the emptiness. Not sure what this will be yet but hopefully something comes to mind along the way. Suggestions welcome of course

Set up my blockout scene in UE4, and started making the first assets.
Quick marmoset renders:
UE4 Scene:
Did not do much lighting yet, gonna start that once I finished most of the assets.
Thnx!
Right now all the cloth panels are using the same 4k texture. Might downsize this later to a 2k if needed.
I've had to deal with a lot of extreme optimization at work lately so decided to go all out on this one and not care too much about texture resolution.
Lighting is fully dynamic now so no more baking, with the help of @DriesDeryckere , thnx Dries!
Also I decided to throw away my current submarine design and go for more of a research kind of submarine with lots of mechanical and moving parts. Update on that soon
And I quickly added some red point lights because that makes everything look cooler right
Regarding your scene looks very nice to me
Thanks for sharing.
Thnx a lot !
It depends really how much time you spend on learning it I guess. I've been doing it for almost 4 years now and devoted a lot of hours per day on learning it. If you're already doing art for movies then it wouldn't be that hard to switch I guess. The basics are very similar. The main difference with game art is that you really have to focus on performance so you will have to optimize a lot which brings some technical difficulties. Hope that helps, feel free to send me a PM if you have any more questions
Flew over to Holland to finish graduation at school, so no updates for a few days but going full power ahead when thats done
I finally graduated so got more time to work on this now. Added some benches and roof tiles. Up next some more different wallpanels and wires cables etc.
Here is the latest screen:
Looks amazing anyway mate no matter what. TBH its looks like a photo atm. really good work and congrats on graduating
I still want to do something special with the cargo/interior, give it a story or twist but having a hard time to come up with any ideas. Suggestion welcome!
I still dont know what to fill the room with, might just go with ordinary crates and stuff. Or I put my scifi trike in here, but it probably doesn't do justice to both. Dunno
Here a super tiny small update, made some trims with pipes that im gonna use just about everywhere
