Hardly surprising, considering that internet is pretty much filled with people who are just dying to get offended by something every day, so that they can feel a spark of emotion and feel less numb for a short moment.
People's shallow fascination with other cultures and attempts to imitate their art is something that has been around since ages, and it's hardly limited to western world. And it's not like it's a bad thing either.
