I'm currently studying Game Art  in my final year at De Montfort University Leicester, I am an aspiring character artist and for my final project I will be producing 4 characters that fit in an environment produced by my team mates. The premise of the environment is that a city was divided in two (much like the Berlin wall) and one side thrived and the other became very run down. I will be doing 2 characters per side exploring different elements in each.

This project will take around 20 weeks for the university hand in but I will aim to work on this after that to polish and possibly make another character. We are currently 2 weeks in to the project and I am generally happy with the progress the team is making, I have almost finished the designs for the run down side (some finalizing needed) and I have started the high poly for one of the characters. mostly focusing on blocking the shapes out.

My initial plan for this project was to develop a modular set of clothing and make lots of different NPC characters however when I discussed this with my tutors I decided against it as there was a lot of room for error which could potentially lose me marks if all went wrong. So I decided on doing 4 detailed characters and doing a few extra bits of clothing for them as a stretch goal.

Critique and advice would be much appreciated.

Update 1
Design highlights (lots of iterations between these but didn't want to spam) and base sculpt with some detail.

    UPDATE 2

I have more or less finished the high poly now, I plan to work in to the face more and re-bake it but I will do this at a later date in the project.

    Have some dirty zBrush renders.

    Ignore the eyebrow!

For the shoes I experimented with photo scanning, the scan was incredibly dirty so I more or less rebuilt them over the scan by extracting areas, using zremesher and panel loops to create different sections. For the stitching I created an IMM curve brush in zbrush.

Lots of work to do on the hair yet, any advice on it would be very appreciated.

What my team are up to:

They are currently populating the white box with assets, this is the side that this character will be placed in. There is also another side of the environment which is much more futuristic, I will post some update photos here shortly.
