[solved] Can we prevent other texture sets from hiding while painting?

I've got a model with multiple texture sets and I would like to paint on one but still have the others visible. Every time I start to paint the other sets get hidden, but this makes it difficult to paint "around" the other pieces that are in different sets. Is there any way to disable this? I tried looking and searching online but found nothing.

It's an option in the preferences: "Only display the selected material when painting".
