is there a solution in zbrush to spray geometry on a model like the guy does at 14:00. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Wi4-fdeYyM i tried insert mesh brush in curve mode but could not get out sufficent randomized result.
question is - what does the output look like? if it ends up as one big fat lump of geometry like my IMM tests then good luck tweaking that! IMO this approach is so much easier to work with if you paint geometry instances. bonus points for utilizing a modifier stack.
if you absolutely need to stay in Z for this, why not use fibermesh with a low strand count and really scaled up strand geometry? apply a texture to it when setting it up and you get UV's for free.
As Internet Friend said, you should try Nanomesh. Create an IMM brush with several variations of hair cards(UV'd and textured) Create a skullcap mesh. And just play with the NM settings. You can randomise scale/rotation/offset/position to get a good result very quickly. Then you can create more layers of NM using your different hair cards from the IMM to get greater variation.
When you're happy you can bake it to a mesh and place custom hair cards with your IMM if you want more deliberate strands.

Then you can Autogroups it for more control.
