Displaying texture maps in portfolio question...

Hi there -

Always looking for ways to update/improve my portfolio. I notice that a lot of people don't display their AO and/or Cavity maps on their portfolio pages? Is this just due to the fact that AO/Cavity maps don't really need to be displayed since they are pretty obvious?

I would love to not have to show them, just less clutter and more focus on the piece itself and the other maps (albedo, roughness etc.)

Anyone have any input on this?

In my experience, the normal map shows the most visible errors with the bake/low poly. As long as the normals bake perfectly, the other maps should bake with a few clicks.

So in other words, don't really need to display the AO/cavity maps on my portfolio?

I'd say it's not really needed. Just show normals, albedo, specular, gloss, and any other maps that contribute really significantly to the final look and took some effort to put together.
