Been doing some cartoon character busts heavily influenced by Leslie Van Den Broecks Disney sculpts.
Goal was to practice a bunch of things with these; translating 2d to 3d, capturing stylized likeness, sculpting exaggerated features, quicker sculpting, etc. Been having a lot of fun with these so I'll probably keep doing them for a bit.
Wanted to open myself up to some critiques.
Felt I didn't quite hit the character; he looks too young. Kept comfortable with symmetry and didn't do an expression. Also noodled with the hair too much.
Did ok with the likeness and broke symmetry, but the expression is a tad awkward. Eyes and teeth too white and clothing looks rushed and lumpy.
Clothing and accessories look better, and expression looks more natural (though it's simpler so I might not count it). Pretty happy with this one... which meant it was time to get more eyes on it so people can chime in and say whats wrong!

Hadn't done a female character yet, and wanted to try someone whose design I thought would be challenging to translate to 3d.
You should posts some videos of this stuff on youtube! So I can creep >;3
Theres not many on there and it'd be really awesome to see your process!
I had two smiles in a row, had to fix that with creepy Frollo:
Good job, I look forward to more!
Nani is looking strange to me, but i still like it.
Armpitlazers and Pmiller01: Nani is probably my favorite so far, and also the one I think looks the weirdest. *shrug*
Lucospade: The eyes are nothing special, just the toy plastic material with some basic colors for the iris/pupil and some shading. Top and bottom eyelids are extruded from the eyeball, and the eyelashes extruded from the eyelids.
Lotet: Thanks! I agree about the mouths, especially after looking over this last one I think I'm going to rework my approach to the lips.
Here's the newest one.
GED: Yeah, part of the challenge is to suit the style from the movie somewhat. Atlantis is very angular with a lot of linework, which was interesting to figure out.
Back to a smoother style, and tried another way of doing glasses. Plus, gotta represent some older movies
No.
