opinion time !!

im building a new pc rig 

3D Modeling , Rendering , using high rez photoshop files , and some high end gaming 

tell me what you think (over kill, or too little performance)

processor: Intel Core i7-5930k CPU 3.5Ghz
Ram: DDR4 32Gb 2800Mhz dual 
graphics card: EVGA GTX970 SSC 4GB 
SSD : 250Gb Samsung evo S
internal harddrive : 2TB hdd
case: Corsair Air 540 
Windows 10 OS 
power supply : Antec HCG-850M 850Watts 
fan: Corsair Hydro H100i GTX 
mother board: Gigabyte GA‑X99‑UD4 ATX Motherboard ‑

    The 5930k is not worth spending $200 over the 5820k, you could put that $200 into a GTX 980.

    500 GB SSDs are at a pretty nice price point right now, and are worth considering.

    Not sure why you picked the PSU, you can get a gold rated one, that's a better PSU brand, for the same price.

    I personally would rather get a large air cooler over a all-in-one liquid cooler. They can be almost as cool, just as quiet, with no risk of leaking.


    I would definitely consider going with the Skylake and the i7 6700k instead, the 5820k and 6700k trade blows on benchmarks, the single core performance of the 6700k is much better, the multi-threaded performance is a bit better on the 5820k, but the motherboards for Skylake are much cheaper, and Skylake runs cooler.

    I agree with about everything that @ZacD recommends. The 6700k is in shortage right now and is about $70 over MSRP most places right now. There are a couple air coolers that are quieter and perform better than the h100i (Noctuas come to mind).
