Hey polycounters,
My name is Jordan Gorence (ArmpitLazers) and I have been browsing around Polycount for a while now, and the amount of community and talent is truly inspiring. With that inspiration I have decided to start a thread showing my evolution as I jump into learning 3D. Currently I am a toy designer in Los Angeles and I just recently picked up zBrush. I have a lot of friends that work in the gaming industry and I am very passionate about games. So this thread will be an archive/documentation of my progress that I can use as an outlet for feedback/critism to help improve my self as a artist. My goal is to eventually develop a portfolio that I can use to get into games. So I would greatly appreciate any feedback/suggestions and constructive criticism in the hope to better my skills and workflow.
First off I would like to start of showing one of my first projects that I jumped into with zBrush. The character concept is based off a personal design that I did about a year ago. I wont get into the story but the characters name is Hamlet and he uses his head as a weapon. My goal for this project was just to use this concept as a "inspiration" for sculpting and to use zBrush as a tool to develop him further. So he will not end up looking like the concept I did but I trying to keep the "essence" of what he is.
Currently I have blocked out the body and gotten the proportions down that I like. I spent more time working on his head. I wanted to push a more of a "pig" like feel in his face than in the concept, paying tribute to his name. Next up I am going to work on modeling the hands using the zModeling tool and then move onto making his clothing and armor.
Thanks!

I have been jumping around on a couple of different sculpts (since I like to create a new sculpt for every tutorial I watch to follow along and sculpt with).
This is a figure design I have in my head for a while. So now that I have zBrush I thought I would try and bring him to life! I started with the base figure then used the base as a foundation to start experimenting and learning new techniques. I may mess with his proportions a little more - my goal is to get him printed as a blank (without the armor). Any comments/suggestion/tips are much appreciated!
Here is a little sketch I am working on today (blocking out the leg pose) - I am exploring a little "cubic" dire wolf to get printed for my next convention! Let me know if you have any suggestions/comments on the sculpt. Thanks!
