About the Project:

Raygun Rocketship is a 1950’s themed retro sci fi 3rd person shooter / space sim rpg.  Get in your ship, blast your way through alien space fighters, board enemy vessels or land on enemy basses, then get out of your ship and fight third person shooter style and shoot aliens with your raygun.  Missions have multiple solutions.

The art style is 3d cel shaded, similar to Borderlands / Telltale’s Walking Dead.  We’re using motion capture for smooth animation.

The story structure is somewhat similar to a game like Mass Effect.  The player can make critical decisions that will greatly effect which characters live or how successful missions are.  The tone is a little more light hearted and comedic with characters that are funny and entertaining.

We initially started working on Raygun years ago, produced a playable demo and showed it off at a few conventions (in case you find footage on it).  We’ve shelved our old work and are going in this new direction.

About the Position:

The Environmental Concept artist is responsible for sketching out alien tech labs, space ships, and cool, non crate / barrel filled scenery.  Such artists should be able to do quick thumbnail sketches and silhouettes showing a wide array of variations to generate ideas then be able to fully illustrate final concepts.

About Stigma Games:

We’re based in Sacramento, California.  Our current team consists of 3 programmers, 5 artists, and 1 writer / 3d artist / designer / getter of coffee / fearless leader all working in our physical studio.  This is the first time we’ve decided to start looking for people outside the area.  We’re mostly an unfunded studio with everyone on the team working on a volunteer basis.  Recently, we were hired by Wells Fargo to make a 3d game simulation for their virtual museum(which we finished in Nov 2015) and get the occasional non game related job that pays enough to keep the lights on.  Otherwise, the plan is to be able to generate enough income to hire people full time.  So far, the few things we've released and made money on, we've been able to back pay fair wages to those involved.
