Trying out this whole concepting thing some more. Aanval Robotics Portable Railgun Prototype developed in 2065.
Uses caseless ammunition with a battery integrated in order to power the weapon. Magazines are specifically designed for the application. Civilian weapons will have reduced ammo and a lower powered battery while military will use cutting edge technology. This prolongs the weapons service life as new battery technology to increase power and range can be integrated into the magazine without requiring a tear-down and re-design of the weapon.
Backstory:
Founded in 2027, Aanval Robotics began to experiment with railgun development in 2060 after an exclusive partnership with Duratek Worldwide. This led to the development of an incredibly high powered and compact battery. Initially developed for combat robots, exo-suits, and mechs, the Aanval board voted to prototype a rifle that would surpass ARK Worldwides current offering.
Soon after the public release of the civilian model, local gangs began to experiment with increasing the output of the civilian battery. Unsurprisingly, the increased current can lead to the explosion of the magazine, which will dismember the users arms.
