Solved: 2.0.4b keeps drolling back to ... 2.0.0(?)

Hi guys kinda vexing issue esp. as I'm under deadline.
Quixel suite keeps rolling back to a previous version.
I've uninstalled via the Quixel uninstaller and re-installed with the current 2.0.4b installer.
Set bitdefender to ignore all 4 Quixel exe's.
I can paint in 3Do for a while (very slowly) then it gives up and rolls back to 2.0.0 (I guess) - with no paint interface, and the "download 2004" screen comes back up at quixel restart.
I have 24 gig ram, ssd, photoshop up to date, asus rog g751jt nvidia geforce gtx 970m, 3ds Max and Photoshop work fine.
Thanks if anyone has any insight or shared experience.

Hey Deep4d - have you ensured that your video card is being used for 3DO instead of your integrated graphics? This would explain the slow painting - not the "rollback" issue, but I suspect it may be related. Let me know!

Hello Synaesthesia! Thanks for responding. This particular laptop seems to not even have integrated graphics, at least there is no option for that in the nVidia control panel. I know of that issue from an earlier laptop, but as far as I see it's not the issue here ...

OK I have it working there was a duplicate installation, with an old install on users/Public(?) anyway I uninstalled it and we're back in business, they also helped me on the FB support page. Thanks much and have a great day.
