I want to build an all-steel 1500lb+ draw weight hand-held arbalest that shoots bolts at 400+fps. Probably not going to happen until I get a job though. Other than that, pretty much what @Zacd said, minus GDC since I'm in China =/
I want to get in better shape for my second wrestling match, unfortunately everyone wants to go to the gym on after new years so it's going to be crowded!
Last year my goal was 2D15. No 3D work all year. I figured I'd fail a month in. I lasted until late July. Did a lot of 2D work and some 3D work. I also got in decent shape.
For 2016 I just want to maintain exercising, finish at least 1 3D personal scene, and start to learn Spanish.
Get paid to do 3d stuff. Get better in Substance Designer Get better at sculpting clothing Try to do hand-painted style for real Try either UE4 or Unity for real
My main goal is to cultivate consistent daily and weekly work habits. Learn to love the process, to recognize that producing mediocre work is vastly better than producing no work, and to practice self-discipline and personal accountability.
Also to improve my facility with zbrush and substance painter/designer by spending a bit of time with them every week.
I generally haven't been big on resolutions in the past so I might make that a goal this year. Aside from that, here's my list of things I'd like to work on this year:
- Be more active on the forum and participate more in contest - Improve and work on portfolio with personal projects - Learn how to speak french - Sleep better - Learn how to code in Python - Improve on texturing and map baking. - Eat less junk food
CYNNEXoh, whoa, I could relate on like half of what you listed. IADAGRACANice! Katakana and Hiragana is fun to learn. Kanji is a whole different story lol.
Mine would be: -Dive into Substance Designer more. -Learn 3Dcoat and create a prop using it. -Make another scene in UE4 (something more in-depth than the first one I made) -Make a fan art piece (Battlefront/Star Wars comes to mind, maybe in UE4 or a prop/vehicle) -Learn more French

Get back to some traditional skills like drawing, clay sculpting etc. Figure out more Quixel and Substance. Get fitter. Hopefully help develop a sub studio that I am trying to build up into something permanent. Get more focused. Remove unproductive habits.
I'm taking a one off Animation Mentor class right now. I'm stretching myself a little thin, so I'm going to wait on my personal art / projects until this is over.
Get back in shape.
I've been going to the gym consistently since August. I hate cardio, so I only weight lift. Before I would've gotten bored on a treadmill and stopped. The best exercise is the exercise that gets done.
Release coolRIG
I've been working on this off and on for a few years. Modular rigging tool, it's ready for production. it just has few bugs to clear out. http://www.coolrig.com/
do more art. waste less time on forums, reddit, G+, whatever. organize moving back to Europe. start changing tracks and get into teaching, ideally anything game dev related.
* Get better at Substance... so that means I have to finish more lowpoly stuff, and not just a pretty zbrush render... * I also started UE4 Blueprint stuff. I plan to make a Village Defense kind of RTS game where you build your town and protect it from waves of enemies... I just built the RTS camera system and working on placing buildings right now. * Wake up earlier. * Grow hair for man bun. * Get a job...
- Get Substance Designer to be part of my texturing workflow - Study more and more anatomy, clothing, armors and accessories of characters - Have enough characters in my portfolio in the end of the spring before summer (when I graduate from the game development school) - Start looking for a job as a character artist
Never gave up on being better, faster and more resourceful. I am ambitious and i like it that way. I wanna be someone, do something, not just be "an artist" but "the artist"
Paint more 2D
Became a better handpainter
Learn Substance and pbr to increase my skill pool
Makes more contact, more friends ! Try to go in shangai visit a coworker that is moving back there
Travel, either back to japan, in shangai, or on the west coast to e3 or Pax prime.
Find a way so i can cook dessert for people at work without killing myself ( we're a bit over 30 in the art team, and that doesn't count the rest of the dev team on my main project, so when i cook i try to make some for everyone which keep me from doing really cool and amazing thing)
Resist to the urge of buying a ps4, still too early.
Be ever more involve in the office, I wanna organize more events so everyone enjoy coming to work ^-^
- Surf the internet less - less time behind the monitor, because that's what I do at work. - Complete the games I have not completed yet. - More sketching, pencil / pen on pad. Ideas. - More music.
There's a neat visual novel for learning Japanese coming out soon on steam i might try for the fun of it. Been reading a bit of genki here and there but i won't really get into it until i make some good progress learning programming languages XD

According to spotify, I got a record to break this year....
Sheesh- You guys... all I know is I picked up a gym membership. All I have to do now is use it regularly!
Don't be like the others, you better still be using the membership! I thought ahead and got my mountain bike going again, that way if it sits I am not loosing money :P
Continue messing around with UE4's blueprints after work and see if I can come up with and finish a sahweet game out of the tests and learning experience.
Also.. pay the money I owe the gym after not going since Fallout 4 came out and I got hooked on all five seasons of game of thrones, and get back to swimming again

Walk 3 or 4 miles a day.
Got to the gym at least 3 times a week
Draw every day.
Be able to touch my toes. My hamstrings are horribly inflexible and I'm worried it might cause back and posture issues.
Add a 3d project to my portfolio every other month.
Make money off of 3d modeling some how.
Have my portfolio ready for GDC 2017.
Do more tech art related projects, and maybe have a tech art portfolio as well.
Other than that, pretty much what @Zacd said, minus GDC since I'm in China =/
Other than that, I want to build a Lunetta Synth
Also, this:

Also feels good to be back
Get better in Substance Designer
Get better at sculpting clothing
Try to do hand-painted style for real
Try either UE4 or Unity for real
Also to improve my facility with zbrush and substance painter/designer by spending a bit of time with them every week.
1: Crush enemies.
2: Drive them before me.
3: Hear lamentation of their women.
That should do the trick.
