I was wondering if non-square textures going to be supported in the foreseable future? Right now all noises get distorted and it's a no go for us. Any workarounds?
Are we talking about Painter or Designer? In Designer, you can already work with any size and ratio, you will just have to use transfo nodes to tile the noises correctly depending on your ratio. I made this node that does it for you automatically when you modify its resolution/ratio: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9804576/non_square_transform.sbs
In Painter, it's more complicated as we have no easy way to visualize a non square texture at the moment.
From what I see your node just tiles current substance two time if I want to do a texture 2x1 scaled. Is it possible to do it Filter forge way somehow without repeating the same texture ?
We have virtually no square shaped environment textures at all for years. It makes both Substances kind of irrelevant for us.
If you switch the node mode to Manual, you'll have a unique non tiling texture, you acan then use the make it tile node to make a non square and unique seamless texture.
Thanks for the example but it still makes a problem . The node looks like upscaling the details and once I downscale it back it's repetitive again . Besides that make-it-tile method while looks ok on simple noise works so so for anything having well distinguishable specific details. Would be nice to have something that would adjust all base elements automatically in every level .
