Hey, can any of the XSI fellas out there share their kitbash workflow? I was watching a timelapse of Vitaly Bulgurov making mechs and he would often just click somewhere on screen to instantiate a previously made mesh at that point. Also any general tips for making complex geometry out of premade parts would be helpful to me

this is the video

I don't think it's quite identical to the method he uses, but if you have your parts saved out somewhere as .emdl files (export them while doing a render region for a thumbnail) then you can either hit 5 to open the browser and navigate to your kitbash directory (the broswer window can be kept open and moved to another screen), or set up a folder on the main shelf. All your models will be displayed in either place as thumbnails. Then its just a matter of dragging and dropping them into the scene when needed.

(They'll be placed at the scene root / model root, but the import object will be selected by default making it a quick ctrl+snap to wherever you want it).
