Hello, my name is Michael. I am a self-taught freelance 2D and 3D artist who previously contributed to a variety of independent game projects in a wide range of artistic or design roles. My current focus is on developing fundamental skills as a Concept Artist and 2D artist.

This sketchbook topic is where I share my drawings and digital paintings of any ideas that flow naturally. I enjoy creating art to express, balance my state of mind and to make use of whatever creative talent or skill I may have. Hopefully what I create may be of service to the world somehow. The way I have been doing my sketches recently is in the form of "micro-concepts". I like to start my sketches this way as a warm up and try to progressively get better with the next drawing. This also lets me get more concepts done quickly and allows me to put my ideas on paper easier than if I started out in a larger composition. Once I have done enough or feel that I have arrived at a good design, I can move forward with that by making a more detailed and finished concept, or bring a mental image of it and go directly into low-poly modeling. Sometimes I will draw really random stuff just to see what kinds of interesting concepts I can get and go from there.

A concept that I am currently working on modeling. I consider it a sort of fan spin-off of this video game weapon.

Started out sketching a fiend concept, ended with a couple knight concepts.

Fancy Knight concepts, drew a few pages of sketches to brainstorm ideas and attempt to arrive at a better design. Probably going to just pick a few of these as reference when building the 3D model and will likely refine it more there.
