Spam!?

You've probably noticed a massive influx of spam hitting Polycount over the past couple of days. I wanted to send a quick note saying that we're fully aware of it and are working with Vanilla Forums to ensure we curb this influx and rid the site of it entirely.

In the mean time, continue to flag posts for our awareness as you have been and we'll do our best to nip this in the bud.

It appears that one of the crucial anti-spam plugins was inadvertently disabled in an upgrade. This has been resolved and we've tweaked the posting thresholds as well which, between the two, should address the issues we saw recently.

You might want to tweak it some more; tech talk has the same spam — again. It might be that while the anti-spam plugin was down a lot of accounts were created with posting permissions..?

There is a lot of spam hidden on wiki page, and it ruins random page link. If you just search "800" you can find most of them.

About the spam recently.  Would It be possible to have a stricter policy for accounts under a day old?  
For instance.  If a thread or post is flagged and the poster's account is less than a day old, the post goes into moderation (or delete) rather than the standard 5 flags.
