Here is the original post on reddit :
https://www.reddit.com/r/Maya/comments/3vwswh/help_missing_shading_materials_on_several_layers/I
have a bug on maya, that makes objects under some of my display layers
(not render layers, not using these) missing their shading.
This
image shows 2 layers : one has a correct shading, the other is colored
with the color of the layer. But they use the same materials (don't pay
attention to the overlap, it's my collision mesh).
As i said on
reddit, i use per-face materials : for example the road mesh is 3
materials. And as I have to manage multiple tracks, I need to have those
display layers to hide I do not work on.
Any idea how I could fix this ? This is getting really annoying...

Green missing materials, for no reasons...
Any idea ?
Edit : i found this thread http://forums.autodesk.com/t5/forums/forumtopicprintpage/board-id/area-b201/message-id/28571/print-single-message/false/page/1 and it describes my bug... But can't find any real fix, even if they suggest workaround this is silly and workbreaking... And what is even mroe silly is that I had this same bug with triangulation in maya several month ago, that was reverting my UV's when exporting to fbx.
