A university project whereby we had to model, texture, rig, skin and animate a
low poly model to interpret a children's character, i went for one of
the pirates featured in the "Skeleton Pirate Book" by David Lucas.

Showing the rig I set up, used blendshapes and bones to control areas of
the face for expressions, then created controls to pose them with set
driven keys.
