3d coat manual retopo and uv fast switching. And Zbrush Zremesher vs 3d coat auto-retopo.

Hi, Polycount! Have 2 questions I cant find a good answer for.

1. When I'm UV:ing in 3d coat, I sometimes like to change a edge, in the LP model. For example, get rid of steps in the uv-seams (mainly when I have been using ZRemesher). Or if I did a LPmodel manually and then notice in the UV room that I missed a quad. Is there a easy way to go back and forth and changing the LP when doing UVs? Or do I have to export/import etc.

2.Which one is best for game ready retopo, Zremesher or 3d coats auto-retopo version? And are they legit to use? Specially if the mesh is not going to be animated.

Regards Dennis

Afaik, no, you can't move between without exporting. I typically have better results with Zremesher. No they are not legit to use and the 3d police will take you away if you try, (what kind of question is this?). If it's a static mesh and the topology doesn't have to be clean consider decimation master.

For static mesh it doesn't really matter. For character, 3D Coat will get you pretty close to what you want with all the guide curves you can draw. Manual fixing is still required, you just can't avoid that.

I did not mean "legit" as in legal? Thanks for clearing that out, quite tedious if you find a mistake in the uvroom then!

You can do guidelines and "dense" areas in Zremesher to  But i guess the cleanup is easier in 3dc
