Hi people, I am doing some modelling in max (Vehicle) and I have a question regarding making a mesh which has equal spacing between edges.
I have blocked in the form using plane/edge extrusion to get the overall silhouette but now I have realised that when I subdivide the surface, poly distribution will be unequal (banding where edges are closer together). Are there any techniques I can use so I can get even spacing between the edges before subdividing? for example on the roof of this car. Doesnt really matter if it adds a lot of edges in as long as they are spaced correctly. Otherwise should I start with an evenly distributed surface and use FFD modifiers or NURBS?

It's also important to keep in mind that cars are put together using thousands of individual pieces. It's ok to break up your high poly into a many different pieces (fender, hood, glass, doors ect...). It will help you keep your topology cleaner on each shape if they aren't all connected and you aren't trying to blend edges and details from one shape into everything else.
