Quite a while ago I saw
this concept by Pavel Proskurin and thought I'd give it a go.
Here's my progress on the high poly so far. I think I'm pretty much done, but I figured I'd get some feedback before beginning on the low poly.
I've had to invent some bits that didn't work out in 3D very well or were just obscure or vague.
Eventually I'll be texturing it in substance painter.

I'd consider making some changes on this part (maybe get rid of those AK-ish holes). I know it's how it is in the concept,but it just doesn't make sense to me and looks like scaled down AK12 handguard part.

I'm sure there are areas that can be optimized, but I'm pretty happy with the polycount. It's about 14,000 tris.
