Engine Programmer (Contract)

Antimatter Games is a young, fast-growing studio based currently seeking an Engine Programmer to drive our already skilled, passionate team to create exciting video games, including with our currently in-development project Rising Storm 2: Vietnam, the sequel to the original Rising Stormwhich was PC Gamer’s 2013 Multiplayer Game of the Year and our first project as a team and company.

 

Based in our Cornwall, UK offices, our new Engine Programmer will be responsible for developing and managing the technology with which we build our games. They will need to be independent workers who can work collaboratively with people of different skillsets. We’re looking for a clever developer who can take responsibility for an area of development.  They’ll also need to have great technical skills which will enable them to make our games look, and feel, better than ever.

 

This is a great opportunity for an already experienced Engine or Graphics Programmer to take on a key role in the growth of an exciting young studio.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assess and solve performance and memory issues in an existing codebase
  • Analyse, refactor, and improve existing core technology and tools
  • Serve as a technical expert on topics such as graphics, optimization, multithreaded programming, and hardware capabilities
  • Research and develop new graphics technology and tools

 

Required Skills & Experience

  • BSc in Computer Science (or equivalent)
  • One or more shipped PC titles with engine or graphics credit
  • Excellent C++ programming and systems design skills
  • Proactive, autonomous and self-motivating
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Significant experience with DirectX API, modern rendering techniques, and Unreal Engine programming

 

Beneficial Skills

  • Cross-platform (PC, Xbox, PS) development
  • Experience with build systems
  • Passion for first person shooters
  • Experience with JIRA and/or Agile software development
