Following the development of many successful titles on iPhone such as the Modern Combat, Dungeon Hunter, and Gangstar series, Gameloft Montreal is currently seeking a Pack Team Lead / Artistic Director to join its Packaging team.

Gameloft creates games for smartphones, mobile phones and tablets, as well as new digital platforms such as Apple TV and Apple Watch. Main Tasks and Responsibilities

As part of the packaging team and working in collaboration with the production teams and producer, as well as the local and off-site art director, the successful candidate will be in charge of ensuring the best possible quality for our games’ marketing assets (banners, packaging, icons, etc.).

·         Taking part in the creation of guidelines that allow for the reconciliation of artistic directives with design choices and technical limitations

·         Ensuring quality as well as adherence to any associated technical constraints by providing feedback and artistic and technical support to the 2D and 3D artists

·         Managing, advising and coordinating the 2D and 3D teams to produce work that meets the required quality standards and the provided deadlines

·         Taking an active role in recruitment (selecting CVs and portfolios, correcting tests, conducting interviews, etc.)

·         Providing reports to the project’s art director as well as exhibiting organisation and attention to detail in one’s work

·         Supervising and taking part in the creation of high-quality backgrounds, environments and modular kits (organic, mechanical, architecture) for next-generation mobile platforms

·         Optimising the quality of assets created by 2D and 3D artists

·         Modifying artwork created by 2D and 3D artists in accordance with feedback provided by various stakeholders

 

Requirements

·         At least 5 years’ experience in 2D or 3D art, 1 year as lead

·         Mastery of traditional 3D workflows (Max, Maya, mental ray, V-Ray)

·         Solid understanding of camera work, as well as rendering, lighting and shading processes

·         In-depth knowledge of the use of 2D manipulation tools (Photoshop, Illustrator)

·         Strong understanding of concept- and illustration-art creation with the ability to create rough drafts

·         Familiar with topological constraints in modeling (high and low resolutions)

·         Mastery of texture- and materials-creation techniques including “baking” (Normal, AO, Cavity, Spec, Gloss)

·         Excellent artistic and technical skill sets (concept art, illustration, high-resolution sculpting/modeling, UI design)

·         Previous experience in graphic design, logo creation and typography

Skills and Profile

·         Solid knowledge and understanding of human anatomy, with the ability to meticulously reproduce proportions, shapes and details

·         Strong knowledge of various visual domains (architecture, design, film, comics, games, etc.)

·         Basic knowledge of branding and marketing

·         Able to adapt to different management/data-monitoring systems (TortoiseSVN, Perforce, etc.)

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills

·         Open, curious and self-critical

·         Organised, efficient and independent
