Illustrator/Digital Arts Assistant Professor

The Illustration Program at Columbus College of Art and Design (CCAD) is seeking applicants for a fulltime Faculty position. Our ideal candidate is an illustrator/digital artist with professional publishing experience as well as possible areas of specialization listed below:

  • Motion/Interactive: Has experience developing storyboards, wireframes, style frames, short-form animations, looping gifs, and web-ready art. Experience with motion as editorial illustration and/or work on large campaigns is a plus.
  • Toy/Collectible designer: Has experience designing and sculpting at a professional level. Is well-versed in digital and traditional sculpting techniques, as well as experienced with 3D printing and mass production techniques.
  • Surface Design: Has industry experience developing icons, graphics, patterns, and alternate colorways for a variety of surface applications. Packaging and product design is a plus.

 The following skills and experience are desired of all candidates:

  • Personal practice should demonstrate a strong history of using social media and online tools to engage with clients, businesses, and the public for self-promotion purposes.
  • Candidate should have a broad knowledge of traditional and digital techniques as they pertain to illustration and design, with an emphasis on current digital and new-media tools as they pertain to their specialty area of practice.
  • Candidate should have interest in working collaboratively in academic environment; including program development and assessment, committee service, and institutional leadership roles. Excellent written and communication skills are a must. Previous teaching experience is preferred, but not required.
  • An MFA, or equivalent advanced degree, and related professional experience aligned with teaching assignments are a requirement.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities: Faculty will demonstrate excellent knowledge of the subject matter in required courses related to their specific expertise within a professional curriculum. The position carries the responsibility of contributing to the teaching/learning, research/discovery, and outreach/engagement missions of the college.
