So i'm looking to further my knowledge and teach myself more, and i don't know where there are companies that could give me industry experience, i looked at a riot internship but it seems you need to already have experience to go in there. So any suggestions?

Look everywhere an anywhere. I applied for 100+ internships while I was looking in the summer of 2011. I went on http://www.gamedevmap.com/ and just started working my way through city by city.

It doesn't hurt to send an email especially if there isn't an internship position listed.  I ended up as an intern at Codename Games working on Playstation Home titles. It wasn't the most glamorous position, but working with a small team of 7 people has helped me out tremendously, so make sure to reach out to the little guys as well.

Networking at conferences like gdc and smaller developer conferences can help too. someone suggested me for an internship after seeing me 2 years in a row at a developers conference and seeing my work. I still had to take an art test and interview but if it wasnt for networking I would have never got that internship, since they were never going to post the internship on their website.
