Is it alright to model something from others art?

I'm just wondering since at the time i'm just really not able to bring up any ideas of my own for the time being (think i might've burnt myself out lol) but i've seen a lot of pictures from others drawings of concepts of game houses or something of the sort on pinterest/artstation and what not, and just wondering if i do model something form the artwork, could i use it as like a portfolio piece? Thanks!

Yes, it's totally fine. Contacting the artist and asking permission is a good idea, though plenty of people don't and get away with it. At a minimum, definitely give the artists name when you post it online.

Oh alright thanks meloncov, the main thing i was wondering was whether or not i could put it as a portfolio piece haha, of course i knew you could model it for yourself incase you thought i was some idiot haha.
