A build engineer at YAGER sits at the border of
tools programming, IT and the development teams.
Our core job is maintaining and extending the
build coverage to make sure we have shippable builds conforming to first party
needs. In addition we help set up and maintain automated tests for code and
content. We have a big online component in our game and are building ways to
handle deployment in different environments and enabling debugging there as
well.
Together with IT we are continuously looking
into ways to improve deployment of SDKs or other mandatory software using
configuration management.
On the tools side we help setting up workflows
for local developer work, both via automation/tooling and researching what is
possible on the new consoles.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the game builds all assets and binaries for all platforms
- Troubleshoot
build problems
- Extension and maintenance of automated build system
- Continuous improvement of the automated build pipeline
Qualifications
- 3+ years
of professional experience
- Strong programming experience in at least one of the following
programming languages: C++, C#, Groovy, or PowerShell
- Strong time management skills with the ability to focus on priorities
and solve problems
- Conceptual knowledge of automated build and delivery pipelines
- Experience with CI systems and build tools such as Jenkins, Gradle or
equivalent
- Experience with Perforce or similar SCM systems
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in
writing
- Proficiency
in the Windows environment
Desirable skills
- Knowledge of C++ multi-platform builds
- Experience with Unreal Engine 4 build tools
- Knowledge
of PlayStation 4 packaging
