So I have another question for the community,
I am texturing a wolf pelt for an RTS npc and I'm running into some difficulty in making some at least decent looking fur. Now I have seen a tutorial on here that teaches you onto how to convert maya hair into a texture and have seen a tutorial on how to bake out a zbrush fibermesh into a albdeo texture but both of those tutorials are pretty outdated.
So I ask is their a good way to bake out or create a fur texture that doesn't have to resort into using a photo or manually painting it? Any help would be terrific!

RTS NPCs probably won't use alpha blending, too expensive when you have a ton of NPCs on the screen, and they're tiny anyhow. So then you're talking color map only.
