Retopology techniques

Hi all
So I was looking around some artists portfolio then I stumbled upon the one of Juan Hinojosa (great artist from ready at dawn studios). If you look at some photoes...specifically the one attached you can see the retopology work...is very cool. Now is two days I'm searching on line without results on doing retopo with triangles like the photo but I can't find nothing...seems like a very fine technique...was wondering if you know from where I can learn do such good retopo work...thanks

you can learn by studying peoples model and where they put the tris and edgeloops.  most of the time you start with a mid poly and then start optimizing the mesh by combining and deleting edgeloops. It comes with practice, you just gota keep doing it.

Hey man, thx for the reply. Of course experience and study are the main thing here and I think you are absolutely right. Just wondering if someone can (or already have) shared some techniques or tips and tricks

Lots of people use 3DCoat for retopo now, I still use Togogun though. You just build the low res over the high res model. This way allows for you to think about the best topology choices while not having to worry about maintaining volume.

Well I use topogun too and have good results. Just I never tought about some choices like you see in the image above.
