Hi guys,
I'm doing an updated Alucard from Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. My goal is to practice a game character pipeline, while learning and introducing Marvelous Designer and Substance Painter/Designer into my workflow.
I wanted to bring the character into a more realistic, Japanese look.
Here is my material separation reference:
My general face/style reference:
And some WIP shots of where I'm currently at:
Would love some feedback and critiques!

Here's a bow & ascot type thing.
So, yeah!
As far as the face is concerned I think you need to define the eyelids some more, particularly the tear duct and canthal tendons. If you are going for the asian eyes in your reference, you are missing the little skin flap that covers the top canthal tendon as it meets the tear duct.
His lips are very flat and sharp in the corners, look at the sculpt reference you have and compare the two. Add some more thickness to pimp these out a bit. Find some good ref of different mouth angles, or even get a little mirror and observe your own while you model.
Looking forward to seeing more.
Thanks man! Those are some great points about the face. The face needs a lot more work still, so I'm going to dedicate a big chunk of time to fixing that soon, so I'll be posting a lot more about it soon in hope for some critiques and help.
I'm grinding away on assets until I can dedicate a chunk of time to that.
Did a lot more work on his coat.
Also, I made some changes to the proportions. Do they look better? Was it a necessary change at all?
Thanks for checkin in guys! Trying to do all of these assets at a high quality is such a pain in the ass! Hah. Gonna really hate trying to make all of this game ready in a timely fashion.
ANYWAY HERE ARE SOME BUTTONS
I'll be using these for various areas that require buttons.
And some hair cards! Still figuring out how I want to handle the hair since I've never done it for games before. But hopefully this is in the right direction.
