Personally I'd do them as separate chamfers and not mess with the modifier. Its more steps but it does allow you to adjust the values after they have been applied. It's a different kind of workflow which I personally find kind of unnecessary for most of the things I work on. It never hurts to try it out, you might end up using it on something else totally unrelated later on down the road.
