Did a few thumbs exploring shapes, probably straying too far away from the OG. Also tested out the Substance painter shader

had time  for another quick thumb.  Think I am  goimg to do about ten in all, then  run with my favorite

2 more thumbs, going to do at least 4 more. I think my favorite so far is thumb_03- although I am going to have to push a more organic feel than what it has.

Nice concepts. The 1st and the 3rd one is the best looking imo. I really like the spikes on the first one.
