I wanted to share with you some of the character work that the Art Bully Productions team created for the sci-fi horror game SOMA. Art Bully was responsible for over 40 characters, creatures, robots, and everything in between. We also created the animations for most of the characters featured. Below is a sampling of some of our favorite characters that we worked on.
Soma is a pretty dark game both thematically as well as visually, so I'm glad to be able to shine a better light on our work. We started working on this game back in 2012 and concluded production in mid-2015. We had a blast working on these assets, and it was great seeing our creations in the game.
On a side note, we also worked on over 200 prop assets for Soma. Perhaps I'll post a separate thread for some of the more interesting pieces at a later date.
I like to thank all of the talented artists who contributed to this project.
Amazing work! getting to see the details on the puppet characters makes me feel better for having my pants scared off of me while being chased by them! they're really creepy. Its making me want to go play through the game again to see some of the characters i missed. for example the big squid.
Awesome work! The art and audio really blending masterfully together in SOMA which made for an intense atmosphere in the game. It's great to see these characters well lit, as you mentioned, it is a dark game and we don't get a chance to see the detail on everything during our playthroughs.
Hey Marcus - super cool stuff. I loved SOMA's style and characters. Too bad hiding and running from them in the game meant that many could not be seen in that much detail in the game. The models look really cool. Also nice to have a better look at deep sea Simon and Catherine.
Finally finished the game last night. So awesome!! Every aspect was fantastic. Art, story, gameplay... a real treat. Now to look at these renders even closer.
