Would it be easier to paint a texture or import one in?

So i'm making a hospital now in maya and i'm coming up to the point where i want to start texturing a lot of it. But since i'm new and teaching myself i'm not sure about how to go about texturing this scene because i know a few ways to go about it, and i didn't know if it would be easier to just have 1 big plane as the floor and just pop in a tileable texture hand painted in photoshop for it. Or find a real imagine of a floor and use that? or model individual tiles and texture them in substance painter/designer or something similar to that effect. Thanks!
It should also be noted that i want this to look semi-realistic for the fact that i want to go in and make it like an abandoned/ravaged hospital in a zombie apocalypse type scenario.
