Dinosaur Games is a new development studio in the heart of Texas.
Dinosaur Games was started by our very own polycounter, Jesse 'skankerzero' Sosa and his ex-coworkers. Their love for retro styled, arcade action games prompted them into action.
Sosa tells us, "After being in the industry for over 10 years, we just wanted to strike out and make games for ourselves again. A lot of people don't understand how much work goes into AAA titles. At the end of projects, most developers are burnt out. We wanted to put a stop to that and get back to our gaming roots. Making games is what we love to do and it was time to fall in love with development all over again."
Dinosaur's management staff and core team is made up of senior talent. Every member has double digits worth of industry experience under their belts and have worked on a very large variety of games and movies.
"Having a senior core is very important to us. Often times we see too many start ups put junior talent in management positions and it quickly backfires. It's crucial that a startup has talent that can hit the ground running and wear multiple hats so as to execute effectively and efficiantly when the deadlines are looming." He adds, "Our goal is to become a developer like Treasure back in the 1990s. Each of our games will vary in art style and focus on giving the player a memorable experience. For us, it's all about the arcade action and moments you share with your friends."
Dinosaur Games' first project is MechKnight Chronicles, an action-packed, side-scrolling brawler that is an homage to the classic multiplayer arcade games popular in the 1990s. Players need to balance normal attacks and combos with unique, powerful attacks to defeat their enemies through a variety of visually compelling gameplay areas with their friends, or alone.
MechKnight Chronicles is set in a universe where magic and technology have come together. Players will wield futuristic armor and weapons that harken back to the Middle Ages, and be able to take on hordes of enemies while upgrading their abilities, armor, and weaponry. These customizations are more than just cosmetic, allowing players to customize their characters to suit their gameplay style.
Up to four players can choose their characters, unite their allies, and forge their own path to save the world.
