In case you missed it, Wacom has a new doodling tool for you.

It's name is Inkling and its a traditional pen that writes on paper, but has some magical technology inside that also records your movements. This allows you to import your drawings and notes into a digital format without the need of scanning your actual drawings on paper. Fairly snazzy if you have a need for that. They are due out on the market mid September if you are looking for your own immediately.

Damn it... I feel like I'm gonna spend money, again. I'm just wondering about how "gradient fill" will be recorded? It seems like it recording only lined pen strokes.

At first it seemed really cool, but then I thought a scanner would be more or less the same except with Inkling you have no freedom of medium...

^ but you have layers , i guess the fact that it's portable is the biggest advantage over a scanner, also the extreme sexiness of it's design

What I'm really interested in is the replacement inks. Will they be regular aftermarket ink thingies or do they have to be bought from Wacom, I wonder...

i'm fairly picky about my pens and my paper when i am sketching... i cant imagine this would be a useful thing for me... for me.. the drawing on paper is just thoughts... not an end result... the paper with a drawing on it is as far as i ever need it... but thats just me.

I think the main draw of this, is that the sketches BECOME vector drawings when you plug it into the computer. Depending on how clean the vector lines are, it could be great
