According to a press release that is floating around Lucas Arts just inked a deal with Epic to start using Unreal in a lot of its games. What this means for games currently in production is anyone's guess but this is definitely good news for Epic and LucasArts.
"Unreal Engine 3 is a forward-looking solution that shortens the path between inspiration and execution on a wide variety of gaming platforms," said Zak Phelps, director of technology at LucasArts. "We are thrilled to add another exceptional tool to our technology mix."

somethings just eating away at me on this topic that i cant quite pin down.
its not good but its not bad either, im just unsure how this will all work out.
A little continuity between projects and using an industry standard tool won't hurt. Epic already worked out a lot of the kinks in the pipeline. They won't have to hire people and train them to use new tools or hope they can make due with whatever they find. It's also extremely scalable to just about whatever hardware you plan to run the game. Coming up with all that on your own really isn't making much sense these days.
On the Epic side of things they get a big pile of cash at a time when there are a lot of lower end engines floating around eating into the market place. Everyone pretty much looks to them for innovation and trail blazing on the engine front so its good that they get some cash and recognition to continue cranking out updates, oh and games that showcase their tech.
