Colds spread throughout the office faster than news of industry layoffs, it seems. Browsing for awesome art always makes me feel better.
I really enjoy these portfolios of those who do film updates (rotoscoping, editing) for a living. It's fun, and often inspiring, to get a look at how to update or improve a scene.

So yeah, it can be for animation, but it's not the only definition of the term. It's generally referred to as the process of tracing live action footage, whether it be for masking or animation or whatever.
