Bwaah!? A COMMUNITY recap? Yes! One of our long-time members, Marine, sent in a bevy of news from different communities that is too good to not share.
Let's begin!
Starting off in our own backyard was this weeks announcement of an environment art challenge where you, the Polycount Community, could vote on its theme. The poll is now closed and the next challenge - scheduled to start on Friday, August 27th 2010, will be to create an environment for a side-scrolling beat-em-up game like Castle Crashers, Final Fight, Double Dragon, Battletoads or Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. More details on this will be revealed on Friday when the challenge is announced.
Also found in our community this week is an environment posted by Polycount new-comer, paulsvoboda. This piece is a great example of one of the challenge vote entries where the environment was to be inspired or interpreted by a painting.
And if you haven't seen this sculpt by Polycount's Josh Singh, you must have finally come out from under your rock.
CGSculpt's Big Boss Challenge rages on with plenty of freaky ass demons to drool over. dmightyone's Decider Erigo's Slatthra are peronsal favourites, among some suspiciously good competition. Maybe they've started doping their members.
CGHub's turn, and as much as I like this sculpt, it's freaking me out a bit. The rest of Evan Campbell's gallery isn't as creepy, but still impressive.
With Zbrush 4 finally being released, we're treated to a collection of art from the lucky buggers who get invites to betas.
Frederik Storm starts off our little jaunt through ZBC with a space rhino and a rocket propelled turtle. Seriously, best thing in this post.
We've also got some nice environment art and a short guide from Chris Brand on how he achieved some of the pieces.
And wrapping things up here is a gorilla on a motobike. Gregory Callahan is not only a fine artist, but a man of refined taste.
There's even more stuff in the betatesters forum, more than could be shown here.
Eric Mootz shows off his new plug-in for Softimage, an impressive piece of work that I'm sure Softimage's users will enjoy.

Aaand we're done! Bang up job everyone, lots of hustle. Now go and enjoy your weekend before it becomes a weak end.

And these zBrush 4 sculpts I've been seeing are really awesome.
Thanks man, added most to my ref folder.
