3ds max smoothing texture problem

hi,

i got a eye obj (sclera) this is smoothed with smoothing groups. If i render that i got a round circle where the cornea bulg is for the iris.

If i apply my uvm unwrap and turbosmooth mod and rendder again i got the obviously smoothed edges from turbosmooth but the texture is affected 2, what i dont want. The circle isnt completly round anymore. It is a bit jagged...

I want the complete sclera smoothed but also dont want to mess the texture or in that case alpha circle.

How do u guys do that?
