Hello Everyone,
Just another project i have going on. Lately pretty much all of my portfolio works have been Monster Hunter related. Not sure why. I just love the art. So this time i took one of my fav looking armor sets and wanted to use the HP sculpt to bake AO and whatever other textures i needed and then have the finished product in a handpainted style. So here is some of the th general reference art.
The art is not completely consistent with the game model but also, the way the actul game works, there are slight differences in the texture depending on the level of the armor set. So ill take that as an opportunity to have some creative freedom.
Some images of the sculpt.
Admittedly i spent probably to omuch time on the sculpt if the end result is actually going to be in hand painted style. But it was still fun. Now the retopo and bake. Let me know what you guys think!!

Also, this is the actual monster from the game from whos parts you make the armor. Gypceros. The rubbery flying Ostrich that pukes poison at you and blinds you with a flashlight on its head -_-
Also, i may have forgotten to mention this guys has a face under there too.
Having a lot of fun with this one. Definitely feel like it needs some more color variations though. But first i will finish establishing base colors. Comments and crits are welcome and appreciated. Now i must sleep. My eyes are on fire.
Is that frowned upon? I just want to get some feed back
Think im going to call it. Some light rigging and posing next.
look how sharp the highlights is on the metal parts. the whole texture is pretty dark, to make the metal hihglights pop. you might consider doing this aswell.
i also think it would look better with more details on the flat areas. wear and tear, slight colour variation and such.
keep it up, its a good start!
One thing I have also seen is that people generally have more blue in their hand painted metals.
I did some light rigging and posing with the weapon set i did previously that matches the armor. The final beauty shot will probably like this. Now, more painting!
For real this time. Calling it done. Still, let me know what you think. Now, on to the next one.
and get it closer to the examples posted above.
