Moore: high poly thread

Hey guys I am fairly new to the forum here.I was told to come check the forum out:)
I guess I will just post my latest work and the work in progress pieces that I'm currently working on as well. I do most of my stuff in 3ds max and I am really looking for critiques and feedback on my stuff to obtain knowledge on how to make my stuff more badass:thumbup:

    Hey Mister Moore_tyler,

You sure did spend a lot of time on these machines. Lots of details, that's good.

The first model (The Gleaner) doesn't seem quite coherent from a texturing standpoint. There's dirt on the tires but almost nowhere else except on some low parts. And that dirt feels a bit flat. I think it's just color no? So overall it's way too clean.

If you want to push the enveloppe on your work, you know what to do because what you did with the ALLEN model is better. This one feels right. Of course you could always aim for more variations in your textures. But the look of the machine works.

I have two questions: How do you texture your models? What tools do you use?

    Thanks for sharing!

Hey danielR17 thanks for the feedback!
And Ya I have felt the same way on the tires of the combine. I need more color variation and turn up my bump on the dirt. I am actually learning reanderman right now so am thinking on retexturing it in Maya and render it using renderman. Iv been using max at the moment. I am really still learning how to texture but the tools I use are making node structures in max using procedural textures. Im still learning how to unwrap but I have a basic understanding to use bitmaps and stuff like that.

What about the Quixel Suite or Substance Designer / Painter? Creating procedural PBR textures in Substance Designer is relatively easy, once the learning phase is behind you.

Really cool floating city by the way!

Ya I just heard about Quixel suite and I was checking that out. Iv heard about Substance painter but haven't looked into it much, but I will since you mentioned it.
Iv just started to dive into Mari and am going to texture the model I'm working on now in Mari.

Thanks about the floating city it still needs texturing work, but the grey model turned out nice.
