Quake Live's next patch allegedly adds a player model workshop

So, if you're on Steam and if you've made a Q3A player or weapon you could give it a second chance on QL, or you could make something new, nice and awesome with all the knowledge accumulated over the years (and then hit a roadblock as MD3 exporters are a joke these days)


though i predict the workshop will be filled by "cool model from me!!!" reuploads of existing content unfortunately if the Duke3D and Source engine workshops are any indication, so be wary to protect your work and get your Report-clicking finger ready.

Does this mean polycount can time travel pack to the early 2000's and have tons of models for quake?

Probably not because there's an unforeseen scale problem. Thwarts the aforementioned kiddies I suppose. Also the models don't show up in the player menu. Manual effort would be required to get this working, which would violate many "do not modify" readme.txt clauses in existing addons.

(Not that I would ever do that)
