I'm getting this weird banding issue with my normal map.

I think it is related to the low poly but I have no idea what is causing it. I've exported the low poly as an OBJ and FBX and still the same result. Any ideas?

hey Chaoselite, look like some faces in your mesh have a different smoothing group assign to them. Make sure to use one group per UV island. Its either that or some faces are flipped.

You don´t need to split the smoothing based on uv islands. But you need to split your uv-islands where you got a smoothing-split.

Most of people like to mix this up. However both works, because of the same result, doing it results more verts along the extra hard edges.

I checked for flipped faces and everything looks alright, and to test the smoothing groups I set everything to group 1 and still get the same results.

edit: I figured it out, the uv was doing something weird overlapping faces
