Hi polycount
I dare for the first time to post something on the forum (i'm not english native) Here is the first asset i really made from A to Z without giving up since a very long time . I spent a lot of time watching your awsome work . You're selling me dream ahaha !
As you can see , the final asset looks not very good ... I tried to do my best with all the issues i had ... Highpoly modeling , retopology , and UV seams , baking (hardcore ... : p) with all wonderful seams (i think i do something wrong with uv 's, but i do not know what ).
Well , if you have 5 o 6 minutes , Could you critic this work ? I guess There are a lot of things to say about it ... It would be awsome for me
Have a good day and thank you very much, ladies and gentleman
Firstly I would fit all of the textures on one texture sheet with the maximum resolution of 2048x2048 and I would also then try to keep the unused space on the texture sheet to a minimum trying to fit the UV shells together and scale them up as high as you can.
One thing that might help is before you start adding support loops for the the high poly, you duplicate the model so you have a starting point for the low poly. That way you end up with a cleaner looking mesh , its easier to uv and cleaning up seams in the texture are easier if the line is fairly straight (looking at the seam on the hilt).
Hello guys, i'm back and i applied the tips you gave to me.
Here is the work. Everything isn't perfect. It need a little more tweaking.
This isn't finished yet too. It need to be textured. I'll show it later. Critics are very welcome
The geometry for the knife is a bit all over the place and there seems to be a smoothing issue near the base of the handle. I like the texture work though, I would have had the damage on the handle be a little different compared to the knife
The gun looks great, the geometry is a lot cleaner than the knife
Thanks for your feedback Tom Wood I figure out that clean geometries gives less problems for baking, uvs, etc... . I try to do the best i can but i have always a huge amount of skills to learn
Well here is the gun finished. I try to apply all of your feedbacks/comment. I think i learned A LOT. Thanks
RaptorCWS, thank you very much for the feedback. I'll make the little damages on the texture on my next training. I'll remember this (i like to work on several project else, i become annoyed and give up ).
However,in order to try your tips, i made this (quickly)...

RaptorCWS > okay, i'll try. I think it would be good to spare time . Thank you.
